SOUR CREAM DATE-NUT COOKIES

Recipe by Pastor Barbara Melosh

½ cup butter or margarine

1 cup brown sugar

1 egg

2 cups flour

2 tsp. baking powder

½ tsp. salt

½ tsp. baking soda

¼ tsp. nutmeg

¼ tsp. cardamom

½ cup plus 2 tbls. sour cream

¾ cup chopped dates

½ cup chopped walnuts

 

Cream butter and sugar. Beat in egg. Sift together dry ingredients and add alternately with sour cream, beating until smooth. Stir in dates and nuts. Drop by rounded spoonfuls onto lightly greased cookie sheet. Bake at 400° for 10-12 minutes.

Yield: About 2½ dozen
