Pastor Jacob Simpson is a South Baltimore native. He was born in Harbor Hospital and grew up in Ferndale, where he proudly graduated from North County High School (Go Knights!). In 2007 he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Judeo-Christian Heritage from Concordia College in Bronxville, New York. He received his Master of Divinity degree from the Lutheran Theological Seminary in Philadelphia in 2011.
Reverend Simpson is an avowed believer in living a life for God as Christ did (Philippians 2:5). He thinks that putting the needs of others before our own selfish ones is the central tenant to the ministry and teachings of Jesus, as well as God's law (Matthew 7:12). And being a life-long Lutheran, Pastor Jacob believes that the death and resurrection of Christ promises us God's free grace and the forgiveness of our sins (Romans 3:21-26). We are free in Christ to love our neighbor!
Pastor Jacob was called to Salem on Holy Trinity Sunday (June 3rd, 2012). He considers himself very blessed to be the shepherd of this congregation. His wife Sandra is a registered nurse; they live with their cat, "Johnny Unitas".
